UbD: Stage 1 - PreK Rhyming

    I REALLY LIKE YOUR ENDURING UNDERSTANDING COMPONENT, OF TEACHING STUDENTS HOW TO MANIPULATE WORD TO MAKE RHYME.

    MY QUESTION IS HOW WOULD YOU IMPLEMENT THE LESSON IF YOU HAD STUDENTS WHOM WERE UNFAMILIAR WITH ANY/SOME OF THE OBJECTS IN THE PICTURE CARDS?

    I WOULD PROPOSE MAYBE IMPLEMENTING A MUSICAL COMPONENT TO THE LESSON TO ENSURE RETENTION.

    I THINK THIS IS A GREAT IDEA, ESPECIALLY WITH THIS SPECIFIC AGE GROUP. I THINK IT'S A REAL GOOD EXPERIENCE FOR STUDENTS TO EXPERIMENT WITH THE SOUNDS AND STRUCTURES OF WORDS, AS WELL AS HUMOROUS TO SEE SOME OF THE WORDS THAT THEY THEMSELVES INVENT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RHYME FOR THE FIRS TIME.

    I really like this lesson because kids love rhyming! You can use so many forms of writing and music to incorporate rhyming. One thing thing you could do is have students create a rhyming rap of something educational (math facts or spelling) Great Job Jill!
